The 2000 Rickwood Classic was the 5th in the annual series of "throwback" games played by the Birmingham Barons in vintage-style uniforms at Birmingham's historic Rickwood Field. The Barons lost 5-4 against the Mobile BayBears on June 11. Mobile catcher Tim DeCinces, provided the offensive spark with a pair of home runs including one in the top of the ninth that proved to be the game winner. Down 4-0 though six, Birmingham was able to tie the game in the seventh before DeCinces' home run in the ninth.

The Barons honored their Dixie Series championship team of 1931. Mobile wore uniforms that were similar to the period as well. General admission tickets were $7.

The announced crowd for the Sunday mid-day game was 6,641.
