The 2007 Bassmaster Classic was held on February 23-25, 2007 on Lay Lake, with weigh-ins at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex arena. Approximately 15,000 fans attended the final weigh-in at which Boyd Duckett, 46, of Demopolis was crowned champion. The event was televised each morning on ESPN2.

Duckett's three-day haul totaled 48 pounds 10 ounces, propelling him ahead of favorites Kevin VanDam and Skeet Reese at the top of the field of 50. He was the first fisherman to win an Bassmaster Classic in his home state in the history of the competition. The winning purse was $504,000. The total purse for all competitors was $1,196,500.

The weekend also included the Classic ESPN Outdoors Expo at the Convention Complex, a Mercury Women's Bassmaster Tour event at Lake Mitchell, the Junior Bassmaster World Championship at Lake Logan Martin, and the Bassmaster CastingKids youth event at the BJCC. This was the 3rd Bassmaster Classic to be held at Lay Lake and 6th to be held in the Birmingham area.
