2014 general election

The 2014 statewide general election was held on November 4, 2014, matching the winners of the Democratic and Republican primaries held the previous June, along with a small number of Libertarian and independent candidates and various referenda on amendments to the Alabama Constitution of 1901.

Almost half of voters cast "straight ticket" ballots (316,551 for Republicans and 273,655 for Democrats).

  • Statewide Amendment 1: "Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of Alabama of 1901, to prohibit the State of Alabama from giving full faith and credit to public acts, records, or judicial proceedings of another state that violate the public policy of the State of Alabama and to prohibit the application of foreign law in violation of rights guaranteed natural citizens by the United States and Alabama Constitutions, and the statutes, laws, and public policy thereof, but without application to business entities. (Proposed by Act 2013-269)".
