2015 Spotlight on China

Spotlight on China was the theme of the 2014-2015 Birmingham Festival of Arts organized by the Birmingham International Center.

The program's purpose was to highlight the commercial, educational and cultural ties between Birmingham and the People's Republic of China. The event also celebrated Birmingham's sister city relationship with the Chinese city of Anshan.

• January 20: Forbidden City Chamber Orchestra performance at the Birmingham Museum of Art
• January 22: Ambassador's Dinner for Cui Tiankai, Chinese ambassador to the United States
• January 23: Business roundtable with Ambassador Tiankai
• January 31: Table tennis championship tournament at UAB Campus Recreational Center
• February 20: Calligraphy and brush painting workshop for art teacher with artist Lee-jan Jan at the Birmingham Museum of Art
• April 26: "Kreplach & Dim Sum--Yes. There Are Jews In China", lecture by Robyn Helzner at Temple Emanu-El
• May 5: International Women's Awards Dinner honoring Yale law professor Amy Chua at The Club.
