2016 municipal elections

The 2016 municipal elections were held in many Birmingham area cities and towns on August 23, 2016, as provided for in the Code of Alabama, Section 11-46-21(a).
After election day, hundreds of suspected irregularities were reported to the Alabama Secretary of State from jurisdictions. Five municipalities around the state, including Lakeview in Tuscaloosa County, were investigated by John Merrill's department due to the substance of complaints made before election day.
