2020 Maryville plane crash

The 2020 Maryville plane crash was a fatal aviation accident that occurred in the Maryville community of Etowah County's Little Sand Valley, north of Attalla, on the afternoon of December 12, 2020.

The small aircraft was owned and operated by Elliott George Charles Leadlay of Merritt Island, Florida, an experienced pilot who was on the way home after visiting a friend in Kentucky.

The cause of the crash is not known. Leadley was found with debris from the crash in a field near Kelley Lane, just off Sand Valley Road. The Federal Aviation Administration and Etowah County Sheriff's Department are investigating.
