2022 State of the City address

Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin's 2022 State of the City address was delivered to the Kiwanis Club of Birmingham at the Harbert Center on Tuesday, January 11, 2022. It was Woodfin's fifth annual address and followed the completion of his first four-year term of office and the beginning of his second.

In the speech, Woodfin touted a number of achievements such as economic growth, neighborhood revitalization, and education and career opportunities for Birmingham City Schools students. He spent some time discussion the major issue of gun violence, acknowledging that his efforts to get guns off the streets and empower the Birmingham Police Department with more sophisticated investigative tools has not yet made much impact.
