501st Legion Alabama Garrison

The 501st Legion Alabama Garrison is the Alabama chapter of the 501st Legion, an international Star Wars fan organization. The groups aims are to promote interest in Star Wars, facilitate the use of fan-made costumes based on Imperial troops and other villains (particularly Stormtroopers), and contribute to the local community through costumed charity and volunteer work. The group is authorized by, but not sponsored by, LucasFilm, owner of the Star Wars properties.
As of 2011, the Alabama Garrison has over 60 members spread across the state, including many in the Birmingham District.
