AMBUCS, originally American Business Clubs, is a service organization focused on improving mobility for people with disabilities. William White established the first chapter in Birmingham on May 18, 1922, adopting the motto "Shoulders together". The group formally shortened its name to AMBUCS in 1961.

Since 1995 the national organization has primarily promoted its "Amtryke" program to fabricate and distribute specially-designed tricycles for children with disabilities. AMBUCS works with physical and occupational therapists to tailor the program to individual needs. It also supports students interested in careers in physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech, hearing and audiology with a scholarship program. Local chapters are involved in a variety of service projects, including construction of access ramps and specialty playgrounds.

AMBUCS has more than 5,000 members in 155 chapters across 30 states. The national offices are now located in High Point, North Carolina. The Greater Birmingham AMBUCS chapter is located at 1929 Canyon Road in Vestavia Hills.
