Alabama Historical Association

The Alabama Historical Association was founded in 1947 and is the oldest statewide historical society in Alabama. The AHA provides opportunities for meaningful engagement with the past through publications, meetings, historical markers, and other programs. The AHA is a volunteer-led and membership-supported organization.

The AHA was founded by James Sulzby Jr and he was its first president.
