Anthony Mostella

Anthony Mostella (born c. 1987 in Oneonta; died June 13, 2010 near Ashville) was a running back for the South Alabama Jaguars football team.

Mostella rushed for 2,055 and a school record 38 touchdowns in four seasons at Oneonta High School. He played for the Birmingham-Southern College Panthers football team in 2007, gaining 222 yards on 57 carries with 2 touchdowns and amassing another 297 yards and a score on 30 pass receptions.

In 2008, Mostella transferred to South Alabama, following his coach, Joey Jones. He played as a backup for the Jaguars, rushing for 180 yards and three touchdowns on 39 carries and amassing another 32 yards and a score on 3 pass receptions. He was named to the Sun Belt Conference's Academic Honor Roll after the Spring 2009 semester.

Mostella's motorcycle crashed on St Clair County Highway 26 south of Ashville in June 2010, killing him.
