Areyelle Yarbrough

Areyelle Meishaun Yarbrough (born March 12, 1989 in Fairfield; died April 4, 2021 in Birmingham) was the daughter of Sonya and Michael Yarbrough, pastor of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Yarbrough graduated from Fairfield High Preparatory School and earned a bachelor's degree in accounting at Alabama A&M University in 2013. She was employed by Revenue Discovery Systems as a business license specialist and moved from there to the Jefferson County Department of Revenue as manager of principal accounting.

Yarbrough died in April 2021 from a gunshot wound to the head, which she suffered after a fight broke out during an Easter Sunday gathering at W. C. Patton Park in North Avondale. Five others were wounded in the incident. No arrests have been made. The Federal Bureau of Investivation and the Birmingham Police Department have announced a $30,000 reward for information in the case.
