Arlington-West End is a neighborhood in the West End community of Birmingham. It includes the former town of Elyton and the community of West End, which were annexed into Birmingham in 1910.
The neighborhood is located at the historic site of Elyton at the junction of several pioneer roads. The borders of the modern neighborhood are Lomb Avenue and 6th Street Southwest to the north, Martin Luther King Jr Drive to the east, Dennison Avenue to the south, and 15th Street Southwest to the west. Neighborhoods bordering Arlington-West End include Rising-West Princeton to the north, North Titusville and South Titusville to the east, Woodland Park and West End Manor to the south, and Oakwood Place to the west.
The Arlington Park Historic District is located along Munger Avenue in the northeast portion of the neighborhood. The Tuscaloosa Avenue Commercial Revitalization District lies entirely withing Arlington-West End, and the Lomb Avenue Commercial Revitalization District includes portions of the neighborhood.
Almost the entirety of the neighborhood is located in Birmingham City Council District 6, with a small section included in District 8. The Arlington-West End Neighborhood Association, headed by Deloris Clayton, meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at the West End Library at 1348 Tuscaloosa Avenue Southwest.
Neighborhood landmarks include Arlington Antebellum Home & Gardens, Princeton Baptist Medical Center, Elmwood Cemetery
The neighborhood is part of the Birmingham Police Department West Precinct and is served by Birmingham Fire Station No. 21. School age residents attend Hemphill Elementary School in the neighborhood, Arrington Middle School in the Jones Valley neighborhood, and Parker High School in Smithfield.
The former Elyton School operated in the neighborhood from 1908 to 2003. The former Blessed Sacrament Academy is now the home of Greater Emmanuel Temple Holiness Church.
Parks include Woodward Park, Elyton Park, Arlington-West End EcoScape, Princeton BMC Healing Garden.
The neighborhood sponsors the annual Harambee Festival at the corner of Lomb and Cotton Avenues.
