Art Meripol

Art Meripol (born c. 1954 in Long Beach, California) is a professional photographer.

Meripol is the son of Bob and Frankie Meripol. He grew up in Texas. He graduated from high school in Fayetteville, Arkansas and worked as a cook at a Chinese restaurant while completing his bachelor's degree in journalism at the University of Arkansas. He spent the next decade as a newspaper photographer, primarily covering concerts.

In 1989 Meripol was hired as a travel photographer by Southern Living. He became a freelance photographer around 2010 and has worked for numerous clients, including the Alabama Tourism Department, for which he documented the sites on the U.S. Civil Rights Trail. A number of Meripol's concert photographs were included in the 2011 Birmingham Museum of Art exhibition "Who Shot Rock & Roll: A Photographic History, 1955 to the Present."
