"Beauty" in September 1979

"Beauty" was an outdoor mural at 2112 1st Avenue North in downtown Birmingham.

The 140-foot long mural was painted in the 1970s by Martha Johnson as part of the Birmingham Mural Project. The colorful design featured large, fantastically-shaped flower motifs. The mural took up the entire west wall of the Birmingham Realty Annex building, then the home of the Greater Birmingham Arts Alliance, facing a parking lot used by the Collateral Investment Company. The mural was still vibrant in 1984. It was painted over before 2007.
