Bill Billits

William E. "Bill" Billits (born c. 1947 in Graysville) is a management accountant and candidate for the Graysville City Council.

Billits is the son of Albert and Gladys Billits of Graysville and the grandson of one of the town's founders, William Brasfield. He attended Graysville Junior High School and graduated from Minor High School in 1965 while working the counter at Sherer's Drive Inn. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was first assigned to Amarillo Air Force Base in Texas before he was deployed to active duty with the 338th Combat Support Group as an Airman Second Class during the Vietnam War. He was awarded several medals and a commendation letter for his service to the United States.

After his discharge Billits enrolled at Jefferson State Junior College and earned an associates degree in business management, then went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in business management with minors in law and economics at the University of Montevallo. He has held several positions in management and corporate finance for manufacturers in Birmingham and Dalton, Georgia.

Billits, who uses the online alias BillB67, operates the website Your Graysville, which he founded after unsuccessfully lobbying for improvements to the city's official site. As a 2008 candidate for Graysville City Council he has campaigned for restoring the Graysville Police Department, encouraging retail growth, improving financial management and government openness, and improving public safety through street maintenance and fire protection. In the 2008 elections he earned 75 votes and advanced to a runoff against Mary Sue Morgan, who garnered 96 votes.
