Bill Mudd
William A. Mudd (born c. 1957) is an attorney, venue owner and artist.
Mudd is the grandson of Joseph Mudd, a founder of the firm of Hall, Conerly & Bolvig, and the great-great grandson of William S. Mudd, one of the founders of Birmingham.
Mudd earned his bachelor of science in economics at the University of Alabama in 1979 and his juris doctorate at the University of Alabama School of Law in 1982. Mudd was one of the investors in Black & White alternative newspaper in 1992.
From January 2008 he practiced as a partner in the firm of Whitaker, Mudd, Luke & Wells, which acquired Hall, Conerly & Bolvig in 2015. In March 2022 three principals from Mudd, Bolvig, Luke & Wells joined the Birmingham office of Atlanta, Georgia-based Hall Booth Smith, with Mudd coming on board as "of counsel."
During his travels around the state representing clients, Mudd was inspired to create a series of paintings based on highway landscapes. His work was exhibited at NorDys Gallery.
Mudd is also majority owner and co-founder of the B&A Warehouse events facility on 1st Avenue South. He partnered with Art Durkee to open the business in 1999 and resisted efforts by the City of Birmingham to seize the property through eminent domain for development of Regions Field.
