Birmingham Fire Station No. 9 is located at 1228 27th Street North and serves the Norwood area.

In 1960 the station, with an address at 1220 27th Street North, held one 750-gallon pumper truck.

On July 12, 2023 an unknown assailant came into the station through the open truck bay doors and fired shots at firefighters inside. Two firefighters were injured. Jordan Melton, 29, died from his injuries. The station remained closed until December 13 of that year.
