The CSX Central Alabama Intermodal Facility is a small cargo hub developed by CSX Transportation on 24-acres of the former Pullman Standard Railcar site at Interstate Industrial Park in downtown Bessemer. Though it began operating in September 2009, the facility's grand opening was held on December 1. The cargo hub primarily services shipments of parts for automobile manufacturers in Alabama, including complete engines and transmissions for M-, GL-, and R-Class vehicles produced by Mercedes-Benz US International in Tuscaloosa County.

The hub is operated by a CSX contractor. It has 5,000 feet of working track, stacking space for 1,000 40-foot containers and parking space for 307 trailer-mounted containers. With the capacity to work one in-bound and one out-bound train per day, the facility can handle 40,000 containers per year. Currently the hub primarily serves trains bound for the ports of Charleston, South Carolina and Savannah, Georgia. Future expansion could handle additional traffic from Chicago and Mobile.
