Category talk:Sidewalk

Like I've said, I'm new to the Wiki categorization structure, so forgive me if I sound naive, but I don't think the sub-category "Sidewalk" is very helpful. I knew what it referred to, but if you didn't . . . ? Should it maybe be renamed "Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival"?

Also, I don't think "Alabama Theatre" should be a sub-category of this. I would like to eventually add an entry for the annual showing of the silent film, Phantom of the Opera. It seems to me that such an entry should go in Category:Film events. But if it's put there, it won't go in the Alabama Theatre sub-sub-category -- even though it's held there -- because it's not part of the Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival. The category is Film Events. The Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival is an event. The Alabama Theatre is not an event, it is a location. Am I making any sense? --Lkseitz 13:11, 28 April 2006 (PDT)

Categories aren't trees, so Category Sidewalk isn't the only way out of Category:Alabama Theatre, just one route. There's a lot of discussion on the patterns of categories at Wikipedia Talk:Categorization (or something like that). The way I see it, the Category:Sidewalk should include all the articles or categories that go into the event, including the Alabama Theatre. I do agree about the name of the category, though. --Dystopos 16:42, 28 April 2006 (PDT)
