Cedric Brown

Reverend Cedric Brown was the senior pastor of New City Church in Downtown Birmingham. He took the pulpit on April 22, 2006, succeeding church founder Gerald Austin who stepped down to focus on the Center for Urban Missions. Later, in June 2009, he founded Destiny Covenant Church in Tarrant.

Brown grew up in Birmingham and attended Tuskegee University where he was head drum major for the marching band. He holds a master of divinity from Howard University and works as an air traffic controller at the Birmingham International Airport during the week.

He was served as a computer operator for the U.S. Army Reserve in Saudi Arabia during the Persian Gulf War. He is married to the former Ingrid Irons, New City's music director.
