D1 Sports Training
D1 Sports Training & Therapy is an athletic training and therapy facility which opened in June 2010 near Brookwood Hospital. It is part of a Nashville, Tennessee-based chain owned by a partnership which includes NFL quarterbacks Peyton Manning and Philip Rivers. Local investors include DeMeco Ryans, Brodie Croyle, and Vonetta Flowers.
The 22,000 square-foot center houses a 16,000 square-foot indoor turf field along with a weight room and sports medicine and therapy clinics. The company purchased property on Independence Court in unincorporated Jefferson County between Homewood and Vestavia Hills in 2008, but construction was delayed as it sought orthopedists and athletes to join the venture.
A.P.E. Squad, a consultancy for athletic nutrition, massage and chiropractics, was the first full time tenant. Orthopedic surgeon Geoff Connor opened a practice to the facility in Spring 2011.
