Day Eye Care
Day Eye Care (formerly Day Optometry Clinic) is located at 137 West Shugart Ridge Road in Gardendale. They have been providing optometry and ophthalmology services to the Gardendale area since 1969, and to the Birmingham area for 99 years.
The business was started by Francis Jasper "F.J." Day Sr, who began practicing optometry in 1920 on 1st Avenue North in Birmingham. Thirty years later, F.J. Day’s son, Jim Houston Day, joined his brother, Frances Day Jr, in the family business. J. H. Day later started his own business in North Birmingham, before moving to Gardendale in 1969.
In 1988, the husband and wife team of Howard and Sharon Day continued the family tradition and joined the practice. In 2008, they built a new facility off of Fieldstown Road on West Shugart Ridge Road. Prior to 2008, the business was located in a former residential dwelling on Moncrief Road in Gardendale.
The business has added more providers over the years and currently has the following doctors on staff:
