Debbie Barnes

Debra "Debbie" Barnes is a science teacher and track coach at Vincent Middle/High School. She was awarded an "American Stars of Teaching Award" from the U. S. Department of Education in August 2006. She was also the "Teacher of the Month" for October 2005 as selected by the Alabama Department of Education, and has twice been recognized as the "Teacher of the Year" at Vincent.

She is noted for her engaging lecture style, done without notes, and for her hands-on laboratory lessons. She created a program in which high school students demonstrate science principles to elementary school students. She also founded the track team at VMHS, which won the Class 2A boy's state championship in 2002 and 2003
