Dick Hawley

Dick Hawley (born December 6, 1924 in New York City; died January 29, 2004 in Memphis, Tennessee) was a radio and television announcer, most remembered for his long association with WMC in Memphis, Tennessee. For two years beginning in 1948 he announced for WSGN-AM and WSGN-FM. He called games for the 1948, 1949 and 1950 Birmingham Barons.

Before coming to Birmingham, Hawley was a bombardier instructor and an announcer for WHIS in Bluefield, West Virginia. He was a graduate of New York University, where he earned his degree after graduating from Erasmus Hall in Brooklyn, New York.

After leaving for Memphis in 1951, Hawley continued announcing for WMC until he retired in 1993. He died in 2004 and was buried at Memphis Memorial Gardens.
