Dixie Store Fixtures

Dixie Store Fixtures was a restaurant and retail fixture retailer located at 2425 1st Avenue North in downtown Birmingham. It counted Bessemer's Bright Star Restaurant among its list of long-term contracts. Later it expanded into institutional equipment for health care and sports venues, including Atlanta's Georgia Dome and Centennial Olympic Stadium.

The business was founded in 1921 by the Cypress family and originally sold fixtures used in pharmacies before moving into restaurant equipment. In 1953 the business was located in the Black Diamond building at 2231 1st Avenue North.

The company operated an equipment plant with a second showroom at 15th Street and 11th Avenue North, but the property was lost to eminent domain for construction of the I-65 and I-20/59 interchange.

Third generation owner Fred Cypress announced his plans to close the business in 2019. The company continued to fulfill existing contracts as it wound down operations.
