The Dog Daze Festival was held annually in Trussville on the first Saturday in August. It was conceived by the Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce in 1980 as a method to both promote and support local business. Originally held downtown the first Saturday of May, it was moved to the Trussville Mall and eventually to August. The festival has grown from its humble beginnings to include such things as arts and craft vendors, live entertainment, a dog contest and various children's amusements. The festival attracted between 10,000 and 12,000 visitors annually.
