Durham Airport was an airfield located in southeast Bessemer near the intersection of Grant Street and Airport Lane South. It was built between 1945 and 1954, by which time a 2,300 foot unpaved SE/NW runway was shown in a United States Air Force sectional chart.

In 1959 the airport was called Bessemer Airport in USGS topographic maps, and the runway was extended to 3000 feet. Between 1962 and 1971 the runway was paved. At its peak, the Durham/Bessemer Airport consisted of a few hangers and service buildings accessed off of Old Tuscaloosa Highway near Mobile Junction.

The airport closed before 1976 when it was replaced by a new Bessemer Airport. The site is now occupied by the Pine Valley Industrial Park.
