Eric Meyer

Walter Eric Meyer IV (born September 24, 1978 in Huntsville, Madison County) is a firefighter and co-founder of the Cahaba Brewing Company.

Meyer is the son of Huntsville gastroenterologist Walter Meyer III.

Meyer attended UAB, initially as a pre-medical student. While there he became interested in environmental science and geographic information systems, and designed his own major with a minor in biology, graduating in 2001. He also completed a certification as an Emergency Medical Technician while working for the Jefferson County Storm Water Management Authority on a mapping project on the Cahaba River.

Meyer began his firefighting career at the Mountain Brook Fire Department in October 2003. He completed a master's in public administration at Jacksonville State University in 2007 and was promoted to lieutenant in the Mountain Brook Fire Department in 2017.

Meyer gradually became interested in home brewing. He and his partners opened the Cahaba Brewing Company on his birthday in 2011.
