Fay Quick

Fay Falkner Quick (died November 20, 2011) was Shelby County Tax Collector from 1966 to 1982.

Quick was one of 11 siblings born to former Shelby County Sheriff James Falkner and his wife Nancy. She divorced her husband in 1940 and moved back home to Columbiana from Trussville to raise her son, Gene. She built a house across from Shelby County High School in 1947. She made her first run for public office in 1966, and was re-elected without opposition in 1972 and 1978. She retired in 1982.

In 2000 Quick moved to her son's home on Lay Lake and wrote poems for friends and for First Baptist Church of Columbiana. Her son later published a collection of them.

Quick died in November 2011 following a long illness. She was survived by her son, grandson, and two great-grandsons.
