A small section of the original streetcar tracks from the Birmingham & Edgewood Electric Railway are still visible in the southbound lane of 20th Street South as the road approaches the curve beneath Vulcan. An excerpt from the definitive source of Street Railways of Birmingham by Hudson & Cox states on pg. 129, "Shortly after beginning the climb [up 20th St. S.], the tracks entered private right of way between the road and a sharp dropoff to the north, providing a spectacular view of Birmingham". The brick paving in between the parallel set of tracks in this photograph shows the tracks as they veer over to the private right of way.

Photograph taken and edited by Robert Matthews in July 2018.
