Magic_City_Steam_Bottling_Works.jpg (800 × 583 pixels, file size: 216 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)
An illustration published in North Alabama (Illustrated) (1888) Birmingham: Southern Commercial Publishing Co. purporting to show Al Hochstadter's Magic City Steam Bottling Works, which was apparently founded in 1885 at 1817-1819 3rd Avenue North.
The drawing bears a close resemblance to an illustration on Norris, Wellge & Co's 1885 map of Birmingham which showed of Aikin & Lighton's Iron City Foundry, built in 1884 on 1st Avenue North at the intersection of 16th Street North. The Steam Works illustration even appears to have had the labels "FOUNDRY" and "MACHINE SHOP" scratched out.
