Photograph of May 3, 1963 by Charles Moore (Black Star) showing a police dog tearing the leg of a black man's pants following a protest at Kelly Ingram Park. This image and others, published in LIFE magazine, became emblems of the brutishness of resistance to the Civil rights movement in Birmingham.
