Unbuilt design by Warren & Welton for Southside Baptist Church. Published in The Inland Architect and News Record of April 1908. (link).

The design, a domed, cruciform sanctuary with a 6-story square tower, was in the "Italian Renaissance" style, inspired by George M. Keister's picturesque First Baptist Church of the City of New York, built in 1891. The architects presented their designs to the deacons of the church in 1909, and estimated it would cost $75,000 to build. The members, meeting on August 4, were skeptical. Pastor Preston Blake objected to the small seating capacity and, concerned about poor acoustics, contacted the New York church and confirmed his suspicions. He recommended Reuben H. Hunt of Chattanooga, who delivered the plans from which the current 1911 edifice was built.
