Food & Wine is a monthly national magazine founded in 1978 as the International Review of Food and Wine by Michael and Ariane Batterberry.

The launch was originally backed by Hugh Hefner, with its premier issue distributed along with Playboy magazine. In 1980 the magazine was sold to American Express. Editor Dana Cowin joined the title in 1994 and helped its circulation grow to more than 900,000 by 2009. Since 2013 it has been published by Time Inc.

The magazine hosts the annual "Food & Wine Classic" convention in Aspen, Colorado.

Food & Wine's editorial and production staff relocated to Birmingham's Time Inc. Food Studios from New York City in 2017. Hunter Lewis, editor of sister publication Cooking Light, succeeded Food & Wine editor-in-chief Nilou Motamed, who chose to remain in New York.
