Four Winds East is a small complex of 1-bedroom apartments located at 617-621 39th Street South in Forest Park-South Avondale. It is operated by Navigate Affordable Housing Partners with a subsidy from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Before 2018 Four Winds East was owned and managed by YWCA Central Alabama. on August 30, 2014 a resident was stabbed to death in her apartment by an acquaintance. In January 2020 a jury found the YWCA liable for failing to protect their tenants, and awarded the victim's estate a $10 million penalty.
