Frank Poe

Frank Poe (born c. 1950 in Bloomington, California) is the executive director of the Georgia World Congress Center Authority in Atlanta, Georgia, and a former director of the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex.

Poe earned his bachelor's degree in political science and history at East Texas State University (now Texas A&M-Commerce). He began his career as a part time laborer at the Dallas Memorial Auditorium while a student in 1972. He was hired as general manager of the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida in 1979, but returned to Dallas after a year. He came to Birmingham in 1997 and managed the BJCC for seven years, during which time he served a one-year presidency of the International Association of Assembly Managers. He chaired an IAAM task force charged with addressing facility security after the 2001 terrorist attacks in New York and Washington D.C.

Poe resigned in 2004 to assume the directorship at the Dallas Convention Center, also overseeing the Reunion Arena, Dallas Farmer's Market, Union Station and a special event series. He was succeeded by Jack Fields.

In 2010 Poe was recruited to similar duties in Atlanta, overseeing the Georgia World Congress Center, Georgia Dome, and Centennial Olympic Park. He was inducted into the Convention Liaison Council's Hall of Leaders in 2006.
