The George F. Wheelock Co. was a distributor of heating and air conditioning equipment located in the Wheelock Building on the southeast corner of 2nd Avenue South and 31st Street in Lakeview.

The business was founded in 1888 by George Wheelock Sr as a sheet metal fabricator and roofing and furnace supplier, located at 107-109 21st Street South.

In the 1920s the company closed their fabrication shop to focus on distribution. In 1928 the company moved to a newly-built office at 3013-3015 2nd Avenue South, designed by George's uncle, Harry Wheelock. The company expanded eastward in 1946-1948, and again in 1963 to reach the corner of 31st Street.

George "Fred" Wheelock Jr took over the company after George Sr's death in 1965. The firm kept a warehouse at 2225 Morris Avenue in 1970.

George Wheelock III succeeded his father as president in 1984. In 1985 the company became the first distributor in Alabama to sell mini-split systems.

On April 1, 2011 the company was purchased by Mingledorff's Inc. of Norcross, Georgia and its Birmingham office began servicing all commercial sales in Alabama. That branch relocated to 3230 Messer Airport Highway in 2013 and the former Wheelock building was leased to Confederate Motors.
