Hoover Fire Station No. 11

Hoover Fire Station No. 11 is a fire station for the Hoover Fire Department was dedicated on January 25, 2022 in Trace Crossings. Due to the growth of western Hoover, the coverage area for Hoover Fire Station No. 6 was split in half, with Station No. 11 covering Alabama Highway 150 on the east side of Interstate 459 all the way to Hoover Toyota, including calls in Trace Crossings and Blackridge.

The station, on the corner of Stadium Trace Parkway and Langston Ford Drive, is located just south of Bumpus Middle School. The 8,800-square-foot station was built by Signature Homes as an amenity for the Blackridge subdivision. Hoover budgeted $300,000 to furnish and equip the station, including an emergency back-up generator and fuel tank.

The Fire Department moved an existing quint (pump and ladder) truck with a 75-foot ladder from Station No. 6 to the new station, as well as a reserve rescue unit, reserve ladder truck and an inflatable boat with a trailer and some specialty water rescue equipment. The 11 firefighters at Station No. 11 were added to Station No. 6 during fiscal years 2019 and 2020 in anticipation of the new station's opening.

The boat and water rescue equipment were deemed necessary for the 100-acre lake in Blackridge, along with lakes in Trace Crossings and the Cahaba River, where Signature Homes built a canoe launch.
