Jack Wood

Jack Wood was born in the late 1940s in Montgomery. After graduating from Auburn University in 1973, he served as the head football coach at Auburn High School until 1983 when he became the head football coach at Hewitt-Trussville High School and serve in that capacity until his retirement in 2003.

During his tenure as head coach at Hewitt, he compiled a 139-79 record and made 14 playoff appearances, with the 1992 team reaching the AHSAA championship game. In 1998 Husky Stadium was rededicated as Jack Wood Stadium in his honor. In 2003 he was inducted into the Alabama High School Sports Hall of Fame.
