Jacqueline Lewis

Jacqueline Lewis (born c. 1954 in Heidelberg, Germany) is a surgeon practicing at Princeton Baptist Medical Center.

Lewis' family settled in Birmingham in 1968 while her father was serving in the Vietnam War. She was the third Black student to attend Banks High School. She was a member of the National Honor Society and president of the Olympian Club.

After graduating in 1972 Lewis enrolled at UAB to study physical therapy. She completed her degree in 1976 and began working at the Spain Rehabilitation Center, and worked to establish a physical therapy department at Community Hospital in Ensley.

Lewis began pursuing a master's in physical therapy before transitioning to the School of Medicine, with a full scholarship. After earning her M.D. she interned at UAB Hospital and then completed a residency in surgery at Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital in New Rochelle, New York and began working on the staff of the Lincoln Hospital in the South Bronx.

Lewis returned to Birmingham in 1989 and entered into a partnership with David Franklin at Princeton Baptist. She completed her board certification and opened her own practice in 1992.
