James Childs

James W. Childs, Jr (born September 30, 1969) heads the venture capital and private equity practice group at Bradley Arant Rose & White.

Childs' first job was cutting neighbors' yards for $20 each. He earned his bachelor of science in business administration and history at Presbyterian College in 1992, then went on to earn an MBA at Baylor University (1993) and a juris doctorate at Samford's Cumberland School of Law (1997), working as managing editor for the Cumberland Law Review and graduating summa cum laude.

He clerked with Harold See on the Supreme Court of Alabama and was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in 1997.

Childs is a past president of the Birmingham Venture Club and the founder of its Entrepreneur Accelerator Program. He is also a founder and former chairman of TechBirmingham, and a founder of the Southeast Venture Capital Forum. He also serves on the board of directors for the Kiwanis Club of Birmingham.

Childs and his wife, Jennifer reside in Mountain Brook with their two children, Kate and James III.
