Jeff Johnson

Jeff S. Johnson (born in Covington, Georgia) is an advanced placement physics teacher at Hoover High School. In 2010 he was named the Siemens National AP Teacher of the Year by the Siemens Foundation.

Johnson attended E. L. Ficquett, Porterdale Elementary and Cousins Middle School in Covington, then graduated from Newton County High School. He continued his studies at Duke University, Georgia Southern University, UAB and the Shoals Marine Laboratory of Cornell University. He holds a bachelor of science in biology, a masters in science education, and a educational specialist degree.

While working in Georgia he was honored as a Georgia Science Teacher of Promise and a Regional Teacher of the Year. He was named an Outstanding Teacher/Scholar by the Tandy Corporation in 1993 and joined Hoover City Schools in 1994. He has taught biology and integrated science in addition to physics.
