Jerry Tate

Jerry Kenneth Tate (born c. 1968) is an information systems manager active in Birmingham City Schools parent-teacher associations and an executive board member of the Birmingham Education Foundation.

Tate graduated from Marengo High School and earned his bachelor of science in computer information systems at Alabama State University and served as a lieutenant and nuclear-biological-chemical specialist in the U.S. Army. He spent 26 years working as a project manager for Alagasco. He has also served as Sunday School superintendent for Bethel Missional Baptist Church.

Tate ran for Birmingham Board of Education District 1 in the 2013 Birmingham municipal election. He was then a supporter of embattled superintendent Craig Witherspoon. He ran again, challenging Douglas Ragland, in the 2021 Birmingham municipal election.
