Jesse Huey

Jesse Van Buren Huey (born January 4, 1842 in Jefferson County; died December 14, 1928) is the namesake of Hueytown.

Huey and his brother Sam purchased 1,200 acres from the estate of Mortimer Jordan in 1866 and settled their families in the section that later became Hueytown. Jesse married Mary Rutledge in 1867 and had eight children. Huey is buried at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
