John & Jacob is a Nashville-based alternative country band which began in Pinson. High school friends John Davidson and Jacob Bryant wrote songs and played together growing up, and moved to Nashville in 2011, where they were signed as writers to the Major Bob Music label. Davidson and Bryant wrote songs and toured with country superstars The Band Perry, and co-wrote the song Done, which was the Billboard Country Airplay number-one single for The Band Perry the week of August 3, 2013.

After Davidson and Bryant had been in Nashville for a year, bandmates Trevor Davis from Pinson and Jake Thrasher from Moody moved up. They later added Austin Smith from Texas. The band Jacob & John was born, and began touring in 2013, including Gulf Shores' Hangout Festival in 2013 and 2014, 2013's inaugural Cask & Drum festival as well as 2014's large music festival Bonnaroo in Manchester, Tennessee.

In 2013, John & Jacob released their own cut of Done. On October 23 they appeared on the ABC show Nashville and performed their song Be My Girl, which also received play on Birmingham Mountain Radio.
