John Lewis Howell (born July 1906 in Pennsylvania; died August 1987 in Birmingham) was administrator of Carraway Methodist Medical Center from 1953 to 1967.

Howell graduated from Princeton University in 1929. He was recruited to Carraway Hospital in 1949 after having served as secretary-treasurer of the Hall-Mercer Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Howell also served as president of the Alabama Hospital Association.

After retiring from Carraway Hospital, Howell worked as a special consultant to the Crippled Children's Clinic and Hospital, and as the first acting administrator of the Medical Inn of Birmingham in the Medical Towers.

Howell and his wife, Bobbie had two children, Tommy and Phoebe. They resided at 4125 Cliff Road in Forest Park. He died in 1987 and is buried at Elmwood Cemetery.
