John Lewis mural in September 2021

The "John Lewis mural" is a painted mural on the side of Gus's Hot Dogs at 1915 4th Avenue North in Birmingham's Central City. It was painted in December 2020 by Dewon Moton with support and assistance from restaurant owner Lee Pantazis and the building's owner.

The mural includes a grisaille portrait of former Civil Rights activist and U.S. Representative John Lewis, who had died of pancreatic cancer in July of that year. Alongside the portrait is written the quotation, "If you come together with a mission and it's grounded with love and a sense of community, you can make the impossible possible."
