Jordan Thompson

Jordan Michael Thompson is a financial representative for Northwestern Mutual in Atlanta, Georgia and an Assistant Operations Officer for the 20th Special Forces Group in the Alabama Army National Guard. Thompson was the founder of Teams For Troops, and a candidate for Birmingham City Council District 2 in the 2017 Birmingham municipal election.

Thompson earned a bachelor of arts in political science and government at the University of Alabama in 2013. While in college he served as an tutor for Brown House and an event coordinator for the Brayden House. He was also active in ROTC and the University of Alabama Student Government Association. In 2015 he founded Teams for Troops which delivers sports-related care packages to active duty military personnel overseas and supports research into traumatic brain injuries.

Thompson completed his juris doctorate at Samford University's Cumberland School of Law in 2017, and trained to become a Judge Advocate General. Thompson founded Samford's chapter of the Campus Veterans Association and served as vice president of the board of YPBirmingham. He was also active with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Birmingham and The Man Project.

As a candidate for City Council, Thompson hoped to work for the betterment of the city as a whole, to make government more accessible, and to expand educational opportunities. He finished 7th in the 8-way race for District 2 in August. In October he began working for Merrill Lynch in Atlanta and later moved to Northwestern Mutual. He also founded the Young Professionals of Atlanta and serves as president.
