The Joseph Verchot residence in Columbiana is a Victorian-style home built in 1892 by French immigrant Joseph Verchot, who contracted to supply coal to the Shelby Furnace. Verchot died two years later and his widow married Ed German and kept the home in her family until it was purchased in 1980 by Stancil Handley, who has restored the structure.

In 2007 the house was recognized by the Columbiana Beautification Board as one of 35 homes in the city that is more than 75 years old.
